MacTalk November News - You all now have your own MacTalk Blog!

New Forum Leaders. I'd like to welcome two new members to the Forum Leader team: tcn33 and chrome. tcn33 is a familiar presence on MacTalk and the podcast and chrome I've known for a long time, predating MacTalk (and AppleTalk) and is now, along with myself, MacTalk's "Engineering Dept.". ~~~~~~~~~ Trading forum access: Minor changes. A few people who have been members for over a year, yet do not post often, have asked if they can use the Trading Forums. A great many forum members are active readers, but not active posters. Since the rules were put in place to stop fly-by-night members scamming others, we feel there's no reason why they shouldn't have the chance to use the Trading Forums. In case anyone is wondering, if you want to know if you are allowed to post in the Trading Forums, try to do so. If you can, you're allowed. ~~~~~~~~~ MacTalk Member blogs are go! Just as now MacTalk has three new blogs, I've enabled user blogs on the forums. Maybe those of you who don't have a proper blog, but feel like ranting about anything at all will want to use them. It's possible to set categories and moderate comments, so within obvious reason, your blog is yours entirely. How you use your blog is up to you. On another forum that has them, I use them for posting summaries of useful info or threads I've found, quick write-ups of info that I get often asked via PM that aren't detailed enough for a full-blown article or whatever I feel like that I think isn't really worthy of a new thread. They are publicly viewable, however (if not linked) so while everyone should feel more free to crap on as they please in their blog, remember that anyone and everyone can read it. The main blog link is now in the sidebar. The control panel for them is in a link in your Preferences, at the bottom left. One notable thing: The blogs will use the in-development MacTalk skin. There is no sidebar and when I'm working on the skin, weird things may happen, so if you view it one day and the colours are all out of whack or the formatting has gone nuts, don't panic, it's just me. Also, I'm happy for designer types to contact me with CSS suggestions for the new skin.

The question you're about to ask me or post in MacTalk Community is answered in the Forum Rules & FAQ.
As men, however, make little effort to exercise their intellect, or imagine that they possess knowledge before they really learn, the consequence is that they never begin to have knowledge..."
