Default Traditional Melbourne MacTalk BBQ - Area Suggestions?

It's that time of year again dudes - time for a meet up where people under 18 can rock up.

In the past we've had the BBQ down at the Barkly Gardens down in Burnley because I lived right next to it, but this time I don't live there anymore and I doubt anyone wants to come to St. Albans, so we need a new location.

I scouted Docklands Park (at the Docklands, duh - the Collins Street part of Docklands, near the new ANZ & Myer HQ's under construction, but not near the kids park, the specific BBQ bit next to that crappy creek and boat sculpture) and its' a good spot, but it may be too popular and there'd be no space for us.

Timing - maybe the 18th of Jan?

Just a warning that Alexandra Gardens will be chock-a-block on the 18th for Midsumma so not a good place to be looking for space

Found a photo of the place I was talking about at Docklands. It's pretty deserted around there, so maybe it will be a good spot (shame we can't pre-book it or anything though):

Don't forget baking paper so you can grille without worrying if the local birds have crapped on the plate the night before.

We used the docklands one when we lived in docklands. There are a couple of them so make sure you are clear about which one you intend using if it goes ahead there.

I believe the Collins Street Tramline extension is now dividing this park.

Not yet, it will eventually extend down further into the park, but it hasn't yet. Its normally better to get the 48 or 70 which go right next to the park.

No need to scrub! Baking paper protects all. I've done a lot of park BBQs, can you tell? I even have a briefcase of BBQ utensils
