Default Where to shop in Tokyo?

As we have a few resident Japanese experts here, I'd like to pick some brains if I could.

We're stopping over in Tokyo for a couple of days in early November on our way to Europe and we wanted (OK, me!) to go to the techie shopping areas and have a look. I've heard there are some amazing shopping experiences in Tokyo, so any tips would be appreciated.

Yodobashi or Bic Camera

Akihabara which is called electric town, is just not worth it.

You are far better off roaming around one of the above mega stores.. and then doing some real sightseeing...

We land at Narita at around 8pm, Kuma, so the first night will be sleeping no doubt. Do you have recommendations regarding staying nearer Narita and commuting into Tokyo or stay further in and getting back out to Narita for the trip onward? We are there 2 days.

if memory serves me there is a narita express around 9pm
Hopefully you would be able to get that.

As I have never spent anytime in or around narita I have no idea what is there. Although narita is famous for its lousy airport.

Personally I'd jump on the Narita express (or any other means of transport) and heat to Tokyo. The trip takes over 1 hour. Get to Tokyo, check in grab a bowl of ramen and a beer for late supper have a quick look around. And get ready for a big day. Plenty to see and do, lots of trains to catch and luckily November weather shouldn't be too bad.

As your time is limited one of those super stores is best and you will see most of the cool stuff and be able I move on.

Remember the ginza apple store too while you are at it.

Of course others may disagree with me. Travel is all personal

Thanks Kuma. I've read there are several different trains from Narita into Tokyo (and in the mornings and evenings seem to run every 5 minutes). We'll take your advice and head into town. Regards, Kevin
