I put spoilers on the topic title to save a mod adding it later.

I thought it might be a flash-forward/alternate universe when I saw the maps of the South Pacific in Jack's apartment. But I'm leaning towards an alternate universe for several reasons (Jack's dad still alive, Kate has no freckles, no grey in Jack's beard). And the episode title was called "Through the Looking Glass" - they told us right there. It's a mirror universe.

So who's in the coffin? I'm guessing Locke.

it is a TV show that has been broadcast... made freely available to 300m Americans...
some of my mates over there have recorded it and given me a copy but really take your arguments here

Lost the plot... Considering it was suppose to be a 6 parter, its well and truely time for it to end..

And as much as I hate to say it, the Lost finale crapped all over Heroes'.

I think both shows are great personally, but Lost has an interesting plot, a plot that no other show at the moment has, as it's very very symbolic and intriguing

I personally have really enjoyed this season more than no2, its kept me glued to the show more than it ever has before.

the looking glass was the name of the underwater station, so there is nothing surprising about using the "through the looking glass" moniker...

in terms of kate's freckles....well the first thing i noticed was that she was wearing make-up, something she's been without on the island....so its not unnatural for her to look like she has no freckles.

as for the funeral....interesting, i'm drawing blanks but i can surmise from what i've seen so far that:

1. it isn't locke - there's no way he'd leave the island.
2. it isn't sawyer - kate said something about having to go home because he'd be wondering where she is - i'm guessing "he" is sawyer...
3. it could be ben - as ben is with them at the radio tower and a prisoner of theirs, it could be leaves the island with the rest of the group.
4. since it's not penny's boat off the coast, perhaps michael has arranged for them to be rescued. and since walt has shown up we can either guess that there is a supernatural explanation for his appearance, or that walt has come back to the island with michael. if so, perhaps its michael's funeral back in america.

all in all, we still know nothing, perhaps even less than nothing. i'm in it for the long haul though, i've made it through 3 seasons now, so i can't quit without finding out the answers.

edit: ps, jack has plenty of grey in his full beard and his island stubble....
