MacTalk Podcast - Interview with Mark Newton - Proposed Govt Internet Clean Feed
MacTalk Podcast - Interview with Mark Newton - Proposed Government Internet Clean Feed
Ben Grubb has interviewed Internode network engineer, Mark Newton, who by posting on the Whirlpool forums has sparked new debate on the Australian government's proposed Internet "Clean Feed". Mark clears up what the government intends to do, how it will impede internet use in Australia and how serious the government is about implementing it.
For more information, on this topic, visit No Clean Feed, Somebody Think of the Children and Colin's article about the clean feed here on MacTalk.

So this is what Kevin Rudd means when he says Australia needs to have a first class broadband network. Hmmm...

Great podcast and interview. Very calm and well informed.
Let's hope this ridiculous policy gets shown the door soon.

Little awkward for the first 30 seconds then fucking sensational.
An excellent podcast - exactly the type of informative educational interview I was trying to get at when we interviewed coljac back on the last episode of Name Already Taken
Actually speaking of, it was on the same subject so if anyone wants to listen to that one, it's here: Name Already Taken Episode 7.5 - WE’RE BACK!
Again, good work. Mark's a great bloke and always willing to have a chat - great you had an oppotunity to capture and share it.

Can never be to clear (and possibly awkward) Wouldn't want him to get in any trouble for voicing his personal opinion

Very good interview. We need to spread this to the mainstream by all means possible. Post it on things like MySpace and FaceBook and make people become aware of what has a potential to happen.

Apparently Australia's internet service is so good the federal government is going to slow it down by 70%.
Can't have people finding out information that the government didn't give them. Imagine the trouble that could cause an ignorant government.
But don't worry, they employ 5 times as many journalists as Australian newspapers do, so they'll keep us well informed.
Assume the (digital) position... - - Better still, write a letter to your local and senate politicians (they're so internet savvy) or join getup.org.au and do something about it!
