What about podcast interviews for meet the mactalkers?

Just a thought, may have been tried before, but has anyone thought about doing the meet the mactalker as an interview rather than a text mail? Not as part of the normal podcast, but as a completely separate thing?

Keep it completely as a surprise so the person doesn't have a chance to prepare their answers...

We've wanted to do more interviews for a while (the one of Clockwork went down well) and yes, a meet the mactalker one would be fun.

Unfortunately the technical bit of recording a skype conversation sucks more than it should, so this isn't as easy as it should be.

I'll let Anthony put in his thoughts here but I'd love for this to happen (and I don't mind being the interviewer if Ant doesn't want to do it )

Surely you could just do it with something like audio hijack?

Oh an interview is easy. Just that I can't be arsed doing it as I hate talking on the phone/Skype. Plus I have no idea what to talk about. Remember, I'm a geek with poor social-skills.

If someone else wants to do to a few test episodes, lemme know.

You're assuming the guest will get a chance to say anything. Yeah, shut the frak up Anthony...

I was thinking of a set group of questions (like we currently have) with maybe three or four variations so people can't prepare. Then at the end of the interview cut off the answer to who is going to be interviewed next so the person isn't expecting the call.

We'll talk about it tonight - I'd be happy to try it out this week before next week's episode.

Holy thread revival, batman!

So I've spoken to decryption and we're going to give this a go. If someone would like to be a guinneapig and help stumble through this with me while I learn the ins and outs of recording skype, that'd be great.

Pre-reqs:
Have Skype
Have a non-dialup connection
Have a headset or at least headphones. (We don't want that echo that comes with skype recording its own audio)

Basically you and I will arrange a time, we'll skype, I'll record it, and it might see the light of day some time either as part of a podcast or as a seperate stream.

Eventually I think we'd probably like an audio 'meet the mactalker' per week to go alongside the current written interview.

Sounds good...perhaps lining it up to be done by Sunday so the audio interviews and the text interviews can be released the same day.

Also perhaps making a rule, if you have had a text interview, you go to the bottom of the list for an audio interview....
