Mactalk Podcast 11 (Part One)
MacTalk Podcast 11 (Part One)
Just for something different, podcast 11 was split into 2 bits.
Part one is a 20min Apologycast with Myself, Gareth, (Quamen) and Amos (Currawong), discussing the brouhaha that surrounded episode ten, plus a bit more of forum etiquette, podcast etiquette, etc.
It's not part of the actual feed, but you can get the direct download at :
http://www.fulltimecasual.com/stuff/mtalk11.m4a
Part two will be up by this afternoon if i can sneak out of work, and hopefully we can squeeze that one into the feed.
pete.

Hey guys, I don't know what the problem was with the last podcast. To me it was a refreshing candid off the cuff discussion regarding various topics. If people got upset or offended then they have the option not to download. Keep up the entertaining podcasts, at least we have one Australian themed mac podcast to listen to.

yeah, it makes sense! but, sadly, not really. there are some scripts to fool itunes into sticking it in your podcast folder, but they're more trouble than they're worth.

I promise if you ever have me on again I will not mention the threads that appear in footy forums, even if it is a 3 second mention.

When I get back from Perth, I'll merge the two files and pop it in the RSS feed so it appears in iTunes.

I can't listen until tonight but I hope you guys haven't sold out.
If it's not a blokey Australian frank discussion of tech and geek and beer then how is it any different to the myriad of other podcasts out there?
I loved the MacTalkau podcast 'cause it was quintissentially Australian. Don't go getting all sensitive and censored plzkthx.
"Level 99: Having sex with girls" was an amusing satirical attack on ourselves. It was clearly playing on the stereotypes of gaming nerds and their non-existant sex lives.
I for one am very, very dissapointed the podcast had to be renamed.
I think it's obvious from all of this there's a market out there for a more mature Australian geek podcast.

I don't believe there was anything wrong with the podcast itself. Merely the Title on the front page of Mactalk and another somewhat minor issue that has been previously discussed and had closure.
Time to move on people and enjoy the podcast.

I wanted to add, if my speech sounds a bit funny, it's because I could hear my own voice a second later coming back through my headphones making it hard to speak well.

part 2 is being converted now, after some intense audio scrubbing. arkenstone, part 2 is more of the same i'll informed, beer fuelled stuff you come to know and love, only with less swearing all round - except for decryption, you just can't stop that guy...
also, you'll probably be interested in gareths ultimate geek bag discussion..

Is it gareth who is going travelling? whoever it was, please please get in touch with me via Skype or iChat - I can pass on all of my learnings from my 2.5 years living in the UK and traveling all the time with laptops, camera + lenses, chargers, and wife! We stayed in hostels/pensions so we have experience with security etc as well. AND I had a 70-200 f/4L!! And although I didn't shoot in raw, i did need to download a DVD worth once a week, so I've dealt with the same issues.
call me before you buy that 'media device'!! I know the answers you need, RE: webcafes etc..

the podcast would have been easier, but I was out on the lash and missed my chance to dial-in..
yeah, i'll see what I can do. the main reason I raise it, is because my now wife was pretty strict on what we carried, so I had to travel light while not limiting what I was able to do photography wise with my gear, plus deal with security issues of some not so touristy places. it made for some pretty good examples of what to do, and what not to do sometimes..
