MacTalk Podcast - Episode 1 - NOW ONLINE
MacTalk Podcast - Episode 1 - NOW ONLINE

At long last we got out the very first MacTalk podcast, featuring Marc Edwards ( Marc), Peter Wells ( fulltimecasual), Jedda Wignall ( Jedda) and Anthony Agius ( decryption).
Part 1 is about new iPods and the iPhone, as well as NBC leaving iTunes. Part 2 is about Mac Software we're into right now (Pixelmator, Skitch, Ration). There's also other off-topic ramblings in between all that too.
It's a 128k enhanced AAC podcast (64MB). So if there are bits you want to skip or resume to, just use the bookmarks I painstakingly added in
It's got people not talking close enough to the mic, an air conditioner and very unlfattering editing. Like I say at the start, this is our first one and we're all new to this. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Have you bookmarked the part where Jedda promises a release date for Ration?

Or you can right click and copy link then use Quicktime player and select Open URL and paste link in there.
Or you can open stream (Advanced menu) in iTunes and listen there.

Larger file than I first expected, but fast enough to download. Listening tonight at some point (if the iPod actually takes it).

Enjoyed listening to it. All the topics were covered well and everyone had some input. Very positive listening experience overall.
Good job, and I look forward to the next one
Couple of things to work on (I think) for next time. Please take this as constructive criticism
- Try to say "um" less often (especially in the opening)
- There was a bit of echo in some parts
- Not sure what the "intermission" was about? I would have preferred to have just skipped right over a cut rather than listen to random music
- See if you can get a theme tune and work on introducing the podcast with the name, etc... and close the podcast by thanking everyone for participating, etc...
- Submit it to iTunes and post a direct link to the file in the post (you can't see the download link via the RSS feed in FireFox, but you can in Safari)

I didn't realise we could get all pro about it! Okay , here's my tips.
- Light up a spliff and pass it round next time
- I'd like to hear a little reggae in the background.
- The chink of a few stubbies wouldn't go astray.
- A little more profanity.
Seriously though, for me it's the fact that it's kind of improv and ad-hoc that bonds it to the listener I felt like I was in to room with you guys and you all sounded natural and engaged. It's observational quality I'd rate as 10 out of 10. Look forward to the next one!

I'm glad people liked it
It needs a little work on the production values, but this will come with the more episodes we do.
It's been submitted to iTunes, and it's being reviewed - I'll put a link to that when it's approved.
We're also working on a podcast section of the site where they will all be archived.
