Seems some people are having issues with it though.

I currently have a 3G iPhone locked to Vodafone.. Is it easy to figure out how to jailbreak it with quickpwn (for windows)? Is there anything I should know, or do I just do it the same as I did with my first gen iPhone (except no unlock)?
Thanks :-)

Can I upgrade me 2.0 3G iPhone locked to Voda and then jailbreak it now, even though I dont have my Vodafone SIM card yet?
Is this the right procedure?:
(backup already created of my first gen iPhone)
Restore 3G iPhone to 2.2 (shift + click restore in iTunes) - file already downloaded
jailbreak with quickpwn
Install all my stuff from Cydia, and then it'll be ready to go for when I get my SIM card on Tuesday..

Just jailbroke.
No probs, but wifi toggle no longer works... look like apple may have changed something so it won't which kind of sucks. Unless it's not working just for me. anyone else?

I went from 2.0 to 2.2 on my 2G iPhone. I have retained all my apps as well.
I am glad that the speed of 1.x is back!

can I just confirm that if I have a 2g iPhone and update it to 2.2 (currently on 2.1), i dont need to jailbreak it if I dont want stuff like installer an cydia etc... and it will still be ok and fully functional?
meaning, a clean 2.2 update on it will work fine and leave my phone un-locked?

I have just used the new 2.2 pwnage tool to upgrade my 1st Generation iphone to version 2.2 I started on 2.1 already pwnaged.
One area of trouble that I did have, and maybe it may help other users, was that I tried to create a custom firmware version of 2.2 which kept failing. I read the Dev team notes a bit more carefully and it appears that you need to increase the partition size during the build to 1000mb, not the standard 500mb. Once I did this the build worked.

I have 2.1 on my phone now, jailbroken. If I go to 2.2 do I need to download/setup all my cydia stuff again? Also do I need to put 2.2 standard on BEFORE I put the 2.2 jailbroken on? OR can I just go straight to the customised 2.2 jailbroken firmware?

You shouldn't have to.
