iPhone apps for Parents

As I am 'cooking' up one new mac user to add to the camp,
I have discovered more and more parent applications that are way cool!

Baby Monitor App
Price: $0.99
Thinking of traveling, but not wanting to lug your baby monitor along? Just place your iPhone next to your sleeping baby, and when it detects noise, the phone will automatically call you at the phone number of your choice. GENIUS.

Baby Tracker: Nursing App
Price: $7.99
This clever app keeps track of your nursing sessions with just a few clicks, recording the length of time and the side you nursed on. You can always pull up your past nursing logs for reference or, you know, to obsess over. (Not that YOU would do that, of course.)

Scribble App
Price: Free
A quick and easy way to keep your little artists entertained. Let them draw with several different colors and pen sizes, and just shake to erase.

Baby Tracker: Diapers App
Price: $0.99
Inevitably, one of the first questions your pediatrician will ask during those nervous first appointments is about your baby's bowel movements. With this app, you can tell your doctor everything he needs to know. "Little balls", "seedy", "soft"...mmm, is it lunch yet?

Aircam Live video
Price: $9.99
Lets you view live video feed from your isight webcam directly to your iphone using home wifi network. Great for use on baby' room or your pets.

Do anyone else have any to add?

ps. The little mac man is due in feb 2009, hopefully he won't come early
and make me miss the macworld january keynote excitement.

Well, when you're all done

Preschool Adventure is by far my 2 year old's favourite, to the point of if my phone is within sight, i get "moo?" and the phone being taken from me and her quietly sitting in the corner

Brian Eno's Bloom was popular, being able to touch the screen and make sounds generally is fun, so the many drum/piano apps are great too

Any of the doodling apps are good too

My kids are 6, 4 and 1 ... and it's damn hard to keep them away from the iPhone. The 4 year old likes to text his best mates name and hit send. My mum received "Luke" 14 times last week.

So yes, it's good to have apps that keep them away from SMS (and videos).

As mentioned, the sketch programs get a run, but here's others that receive repeat attention:

- PapiJump Plus, PapiRiver, PapiJump Cave
- Memory Match
- ESPN Cameraman
- Four Free
- Free Noughts and Crosses
- Garf
- Hangman
- Jellycar
- Pocket Sounds
- Space Monkey

Garf cost $2.49, the rest are either $1.19 or free.

Surely the camera is sufficient for that ?

My 13 year old was messing about with my iphone today and I was wondering what people with younger and more persistent children do about stopping them rearranging the apps on the screens. A hard working young child could make a real mess in a short period of time. Can they be locked ?
