Give the Applecare guys a break!
I was just on the phone to Apple to report on the replacement iPhone they sent me.
While I was on the phone, I asked the guy I was talking to if He could give me some indication as to the percentage of issues He dealt with, that ended up with a satisfactory result for the customer?
His answer was, "Mate!, to be honest, most of the calls I take are from people on Optus, and had issues relating to the carrier and nothing to do with the iphone software /hardware, so all I can do is refer them to their carrier. People like you, with actual iphone related problems are pretty much all resolved to the customers satisfaction, either through software resets or replacement."
Interesting. but not at all surprising.
Edit:
Just to clarify the point of this thread.
DON"T TIE UP THE APPLECARE LINES WITH PROBLEMS THEY CANNOT DEAL WITH! and leave the lines free for genuine cals, be they iphone or Mac.

You just called up Apple, talked to the guy about how shit Optus is and then posted here.
Your post has nothing to do with Applecare except for the fact you talked to them?

That is not correct Anthony. I did not even mention Optus or any other carrier, He was the one who offered the information.
I know you Don't like me telling the truth about the state of affairs regarding Optus and the iPhone, Everytime I do you either delete the comment or lock me out of the thread, like the spoilt little brat you are!
but don't accuse me of makin up stories, I don't Lie.
Call Apple and ask the question yourself.

Yes there is, but it's not available to Australians. Applecare for iPhones is available in the US.

You can bitch and moan about Optus all you like - my bone to pick here is about the thread title. It is not about AppleCare at all. It is about Optus.

Perhaps a more suitable title of "Apple Customer Service Care" rather than "Applecare" would be appropriate here.
*edit*
OP has beaten me to it :P

Hey, I have problems with Three sometimes, so Optus aren't the only carrier with less than acceptable network.
But I have had no occasion to call Apple.
My iPhone hasn't missed a beat, Three however....
But it aint that bad.

They are there to be bugged, it's part of the service. If that guy you talked to doesn't like it, then he should go and find a job he's satisfied with.
If you have a problem with the motor in your fridge, you don't go and call the electricity company, you call the manufacturer. The warranty is with Apple, if it turns out to be a carrier issue, then it's their job to refer you on.
It's not your right to tell people who they should go to if they are having issues silverdreamer. That's for each customer to make a call on individually.
Mate, how about you take your Optus bashing elsewhere.
