I've just created my first iPhone app and I'll need 10-20 beta testers to help me get it across the line in December. Will you help? It's a graph sketching program ideal for stuff like mind maps, concept maps and the like, for brainstorming and organizing ideas.

If you're interested, email me "glen dot low at pixelglow dot com" with your iPhone or UDID. You can get this number from iTunes by clicking on Devices > (iPhone or iPod Touch) Summary > Serial Number until it changes to Identifier and Copy from the Edit menu.

hey mate, theres actually a great FREE app on the app-store called BetaHelper which provides the users unique number, then provides the option to email it direct to whoever you want

This betahelper, does it just send the UDID?

And does an app developer then customise an app (to include the UDID), so the app can be installed without needing to be jailbroken?

^ Beta Helper is just like that app mate, yup.
Good idea on hijacking the method there... not sure how possible it is (not a coder)

It's so that the app (.ipa file with the adhoc license) can be installed onto your iPhone. No jailbreaking needed, but the developer needs your UDID so that they can generate a certificate to sign the app so that your phone will accept that binary as a legitimate copy.
