MaxoTel VoIP & Fring?
Hi guys
I was wondering whether anyone has got the VoIP from MaxoTel working with Fring on the iPhone?
It keeps telling me I'm using the wrong username and password even though its correct, is there something I'm missing??
Thanks

Hi!
Remember, with Fring there will be a slight delay since the Fring servers will proxy all of the audio, and those servers aren't in Australia.
The username and password that you put in are actually the EXTENSION username and password - not your web login.
So it would look like this as an example:
USERNAME: 70088
PASSWORD: hYS7wjI
PROXY/REGISTRAR: sip.maxo.com.au

much better to use the PennyTel iPhone app, the servers are in australia unlike fring and its a much more user friendly app.

Exactly... and you can set Pennytel to show your mobile number outbound, so people can call you back Of course, doesn't help you which is a problem in respect to the topic of this thread.

oh sure, i was just pointing out that fring is dodgy because of the euro servers and Pennytel cover it all under one roof so to speak.
Pennytel rates are the best I have found anyway, so the OP may be better looking at changing to PT and solving all his VoIP issues!
EDIT - (sorry Alex, i missed the fact that you are a MaxoTel rep!)

I've found PennyTel to be lame as on the iPhone. The call quality is shocking, all the time. I can't really recommend them anymore.

yeah pennytel may have a better iPhone app, but their plan is nowhere near as good as maxotel, it's free! I'm not paying $35 for a number when I cab get it for nothing..

interesting, as you know i have only just got back to oz so i havent had much of a chance to test it, just worked out how to hack the PT app so i can use it on EDGE, so far i have only tried a couple of calls that have been fine - will wait and see if it is consistent.

Not sure how a PT number would cost you $35, they are $15 for 3 years i think, but sure there are cheaper options if you need a DID, most of us dont and PT's call rates are lower than anyone elses AFAIK

Well at first I thought it's just VOIP, but I used MaxoTel and Internode and the call quality is much better. Sure, PT is cheaper, but not that much cheaper for me to have that "well what if it doesn't sound good".

thats interesting mate, i have both PT & Nodephone accounts and historically there has never been any difference. PT is still perfect quality on my homeline so maybe its something about PT on mobile?
