2.1 Update changes AV output??
I have an AV cable that I use to connect my 3g iPhone to a TV. Prior to updating to 2.1 it worked fine. After the update, I get the "This accessory does not work...." warning which never came up in the past. regardless of whether I answer Yes or No, the video just cuts out. The same happens with podcasts, although I'm not sure whether they worked prior to 2.1
Anyone else experiencing a similar problem?

Yes! How annoying! I use it in my car, mine actually plays 1/10 times trying and after 15-12 seconds it cuts out.
It played up every now and again on iPhone 3G in general....but worked like a dream on my 2G iPhone.
Hope an update fixes it.

Mine are.
I use my iPhone for teaching at the University and often play short clips as part of lectures.
My phone now asks me if I want to switch to Airplane Mode then I get 'no signal' from the projector regardless of whether I use Airplane mode or not.
I hope this is a bug and not a 'feature'

...Should've said, I have a non-3G iPhone.
Does this problem include 3Gs?

OK, did a little rooting around and found this article:
'iPhone 2.1 kills 3rd party AV cable support for 3G'
Everything Apple: iPhone 2.1 kills 3rd party AV cable support for 3G
...interesting and rather mercenary on Apple's part.
Doesn't explain however why my Apple cables refuse to work, unless Myer is selling pirated cables!

There's a controller chip that was implemented in the last refresh of the Apple official AV cables and docks. Without the chip, it won't output video or audio with the cable...

I had the same problem only today, with my Apple AV cable. I can't remember what version I had running when I last used it.
However I'm still using 2.0.2 - just popped over to the forum to check if all was ok before I install 2.1.

am i missing something here, is there a genuine iphone a/v cable as opposed to the apple ipod av cable?
I cant manage to get my ipod (genuine) cable to fit into the socket on my 2G iphone.
What are people using to get it to work?

I'm using an 'Apple Composite AV cable', which works on both iphones & ipods.
I just upgraded to 2.1 & my AV cable is working fine now b/w my 3G iphone & my TV. Yay!

No offense intended but you do have 'TV out - ON' selected in preferences yeah? I don't actually have an iPhone but slipped up on this with my iPod (not even sure if it is the same deal).
