Where is all of the standout games?
As far as I can tell, there are only two standout games for the iPhone, Super Monkey Ball and Crash Bandicoot.
And as far as I can tell, both have sold HEAPS.
So where is the flood of good games from companies like Sega etc.

The platform has been out for 1.5 months. Its not like the console's where they would be able to get hardware earlier.
Though I agree we should start seeing big gamehouses putting stuff out, sometime, soon. Hopefully.

Are you kidding? There is Enigmo, Cromag Rally, Texas Hold'em, Bomberman Touch, Critter Crunch, Cube Runner, Aurora Feint, Tap Tap Revenge, Trism and so much more. I am deadly serious when I say that it has the best Launch library of any Portable Gaming Device and perhaps one of the best of all time. Pretty recently I heard that EA is in the development of a boatload of games (SimCity, Sims, NFS, Lemonade Tycoon Etc..) for the iPhone OS. I believe that EA isn't actually selling their existing games on the App Store in Australia and that is one gap I hope as well as others that they fill pretty damn soon (Spore!).

The question is..."where ARE all the standout games?"
Good question. And since I'm no gamer, I am definitely on the lookout for outstanding games...so far, they are lacking...or not available to the Australian Apps Store....yet

I'm more curious as to why all of our current games look and run like shit. I keep hearing developers, going on and on about how the iPhone is more powerful than a DS, PSP and even a Dreamcast. Yet we still see games at the DS level (Crash Racing, Asphalt4) stuttering, although Monkey Ball and Enigmo do something to restore my faith, they aren't exactly that complex when it comes to 3D.
I've been looking forward to indie games like 'Still Alive' on the DS not to mention that the iPhone is perfect for RPGs. I had figured that if you take an open developing environment and added the strong possibility of good money, you would have indie developers rushing to the iPhone with fantastic arthouse games and humorous rip offs of popular games. Instead we've got hundreds of puzzle games and a handful of racers.
Although I am still hopeful that things will improve, maybe as developers spend more time with the SDK and Apple keeps sharpening it (can an SDK even be modified after it's been released?). Bring on Spore Origins!

Spore Origins is on the Australian App Store now. The price is a predictable $12.99.
I would add a link, but I didn't bring my iBook in to work with me today, so I only really have my iPhone for the store.
According to the description, EA's other games like Tetris and the Sims are out, but are nowhere to be found. Of course it's most likely a copy and paste of the American Store's description...

Awesome! One of the reviews (US store) of that game is hysterical. " Will they offer a Creationist version that only has one level, already finished??"

When you think about it Spore is as much about Creation as it is about Evolution. Sure, you are "evolving" as you progress throughout the game, but everytime you evolve or change appearance, it is because a Intelligent Creator chose to change the creature. The changes have nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with what the creator wants :P
But then again, if that wasn't it you would have no control over how your creature looks
