Hopefully you'll use it once the v1.1 free edition (demo with around 30% of the data) is out.

Few questions about this app for someone to answer.....

1. Does the app use EDGE/3G to access any data or is it stored on the phone? Im mainly interested in just the train timetables.

2. How accurate is the time countdowns for the arrival to the next train, are they the same as what shows at the stations?

If so then i will buythis for sure!!

Hi there.

1. The only time it requires an internet connection (EDGE/3G included) is when you manually go to the updates part to ask to get the live status updates on the train system.

2. It's based on the scheduled times so based on Connex's performance it probably won't be in sync with what is displayed on the screens. Unfortunately this information isn't made public and haven't found a way to get a true live update.

The free version with 30% of the data is seriously taking its time so version 1.1.1 with the trams and buses might come out before the free version (already submitted for review). Let me know if you have any other questions about the app. Thanks.

The apps ready and has been provided to Apple. At this point i don't know how long it'll take as the status only states that the update is in review. Hopefully it won't be too long.

I'm not quite sure about #1 - but #2 works against the timetabled time and your iPhone's clock. Connex doesn't have live train information available - they don't even have that info, let alone making it available (unfortunately)

Just purchased the App. Well done Comet this is fantastic. The "Nearby" feature is fantastic and a great use of the iPhones technology.

Something I would like to see is some sort of favourites feature. Perhaps your favourites could just sit at the top of the station name list? It would be great for those who regularly catch the same train at the same stations etc.

Again, well done a great app and well worth the $3.99.

Yeah! A favourite type thing would be great - as I seem to be checking the same stations often.

Thanks Hamsmyth

Favorites is now our highest priority in terms of functionality. The other priorities are supporting Sydney etc.
We've got a few ideas on how we'll implement the favorites but will definitely keep you all updated on the status of the favorites as we get closer to releasing the update again.

Cheers decryption, that answers one question. Typical connex dont provide it. That should be ok, i generally find trains around the times i catch them are on time(ish) with the occasional 30 min delay

Comet, what i was asking was, if i install this app, is the timetabling info stored on the phone in the program? so if i just want to look at train times does it require me to download info over the net.

It would save me carrying around one of those stupid connex books!

Yeah it's definitely on your phone. This way it allows you to use the app on the iPod touch as well as the iPhone on the Optus network (tried them for 2 months, now with Telstra)

For those who want to get a feel of what the app is like, the free version has finally made it to the store. It's got roughly 30% of all the trains.

Looks great, but I think it would benefit greatly by adjusting the size of the type slightly, especially on the station pages.
