And the Telstra logo is from a jailbroken iPhone. Regardless of it being 3G or GPRS/Edge, it's jailbroken

I use iTransit at the moment; I won't buy this until trams are supported.
But it does look good so far ...

doh!
So dumb question... how does it work? If I put in say "hawthorn to frankston" does it tell me the times and changes I have to make like the viclink website... or do i have to work out the changes myself and it just gives you the time from station to station?

Awesome app. I still like iTransit and will keep it linked as it also has Tram and Traffic data.

It's more for people who know how to get from A to B on the train line. So if you want to get to Frankston from Hawthorn, you need to know first of all that you need to get to Richmond from Hawthorn. By selecting Hawthorn through stations, you'll know the next 5 trains that depart Hawthorn in the direction of the city. Clicking on it will tell you the time of departure from Richmond station. You can then look at the timetable for the Frankston line for Richmond station that you can catch based on the connection to work out your trip. Unfortunately this isn't a trip planner which would be a bit difficult to create as a native app.

I know you'd have a situation where you want to look at the time tables for that station. Since you'll most likely be interested in a train station for a specific line, you can check all the departure times for a particular station on a particular line through the Lines option.
The purpose of the By Station option is to allow you to quickly find out the departure times for trains (buses and trams in the next version).
Might look into the possibility of having an option to load more than next 5 trains. Will discuss this as feature on either 1.1 or 1.2 or beyond depending on how much work is involved.

Bought this app yesterday or the day before, really love it so far. Haven't use it too much as yet. Anyway, I did a review on the app store.

For me, it's completely useless without tram data.

Well have to disagree on that point. MetrO is a windows mobile program that has information for literally hundreds of cities (just load the file for the city you want). I've used it in Berlin, Paris, London, Tokyo, it was completely awesome in helping us get around those cities and their very complex underground networks. They are in the process of working on an iphone app but it would appear it's slow going as the developer is more of a WM6 person.
Granted Metro is more of a trip planner than a timetable but there's no reason a native app couldn't do both.
The other issue is what will be the turnaround time on timetable updates... there's some big changes come in October with some lines reversing directions around the city loop or stopping going through it entirely.

I just bought this then.
After having a quick play i have found 1 gripe
Under Train Lines you select a line, then you select a station. and then you select
Weekday and To City for example.
I think you need to list all stations that are on the train line regardless
if the train is running an express/limited express maybe put those stations in
a different colour like red if they are being skipped
Eg. If i hop on at Moorabbin and i want to get off at Hawksburn 90% of the trains
skip it so its not listed. But if it were in red i could easily see im on the right line just
the express trains skip it.
I hope this makes sense
Besides this little grip very good app and easily worth the few bucks..

Great app - it's been promoted to the dock! Its particularly useful for someone who is on the run that doesn't plan their trips well (someone like me).
Three improvements I'd add:
1. Keyword search in 'from' station name.
2. Ability to search for the destination train station. When you get to the screen which shows all train lines it would be great to further filter by destination train station. For example, if I select Parliment as the from station, there are about 15+ train lines to scan through to find South Yarra station (for example).
3. Daily timetables rather than the current to 1 hour view. This would be useful, but a feature I doubt I'd use.

Thanks for the feedback! After reading it about 10 times I think I understand what you're after. So once you select everything and see all the departure times for that train run, you also like to see what stations were skipped?
tcn33 requested to have the stations listed in the train line order instead of alphabetically so I'll look into how much effort it would take to configure the data collector to get that info. Will open up a ticket targeted for the v1.2 mileston.

I'll open up a ticket on this and see if we can add this feature without killing the app. Priority wise, it'll be after the favorites which is currentl for v1.2.
