MobileSafari doesn't seem to randomly jump around the page when you're entering text into fields anymore.
And I got that carrier settings error as well. How do you re-update them?
Edit: I just plugged it into iTunes and it asked if wanted to update the carrier settings. It failed again...

You have to search from the top right corner of Finder (eg. search for iphone ipsw), click the plus sign under the search bar, change the 'Kind' drop-down to 'System Files' and change 'Don't Include' to 'Include'.

Mine worked fine, I followed the guidelines, which was to connect my 'unhacked iPhone' to itunes, and then hit check for update, and follow the prompts, less than 5 mins later, all done, no probs.
With Vodafone FWIW
Oh and it REALLY pisses me off, when people bag Apple for the slightest thing, get a life. Especially someone who proports to be a developer, do we really need your negativity?

This is a stupid question but. (can't try it on iPhone now). The update will just be like a restore process right? That is, I will have to re sync?

Do a sync first, then update your software. That's all there should be to it.

ok so it seems that optus need to maybe generate or send a new carrier settings file...maybe specifying is for the new firmware..
they might do it..maybe by tomorrow..or maybe their servers get hammered too much for this...

drewbles, so it won't delete the content on my iPhone? The reason I ask is syncing over USB 1.1 is extremely slow . (will take me hours)

This might sound like a dumb question but I do a sync with iTunes BEFORE applying the firmware.. and when I have finished flashing it, the phone will still have my contacts, message, etc, yeah?

I got the same thing. Telstra bought phone, unlocked to Optus. Phone works fine after update.
In iTunes when you click Check for Update (after already updating) it does the following:

Yes - it seems to be happening on both locked & unlocked phones.

Not sure if it is related to the update but I have never had 3 bars of 3G reception at my house (usually 1 bar):

Yes mine is still locked to Optus until they send that is unlocked.
They seem to be having issues again maybe this is behind the error with the updated carrier settings or it could be something else.
I for one hope it gets sorted out soon.
