Iphone Telco's Usage Meter
Now this would be a very useful application !
and I would pay for it !
think of the savings one could make as most carriers make this as difficult as possible for their customers to monitor usage, obviously to boost their profits

Can't you just log in to their website with your account and check it from there like a normal Internet account?

But wouldn't the application contact the server that is holding your usage data?
Or (just thinking) you state what your limit is, the application counts your usage locally and warns you when you are beginning to go over.

something simple and easy, just like the iinet usage meter for broadband, gives your remaining allowances as a %, days till top up, web space used, update s/ware and direct link to investigate further

Can do it from telco website..
or even for free already with some telcos
Telstra added the option on their free webpages...
enter via Settings, Phone, Telstra Services, Bigpond Mobile for iPhone.
Then on their pages My Account, Data Usage Snapshot.
It was broken for me - I rang them - they fixed it yesterday and I could check it today.
But a one click app I also would probably pay for too if it was reasonable.

I created an icon on my home screen to take me direct to the usage and a few other of the free Telstra things like Whereis Maps. Whereis maps is no google maps (understatement of the year) but at least it's free for usage.

If I were a developer I would consider looking in to how difficult it is to take usage data from the provider's usage website and implement it into an App! (Eg, you pick between Telstra, Optus and Vodafone, phone number and password and it'll bring back usage information...)

It's very easy to do for ISP usage meters so who knows, it might be easier than you think.

settings > usage ......
there it is?
all you would need is an app that reads that data, totals it, and resets it at a certain time....
or more instantly.... just reset it yourself monthly in the settings.
