GPS Alarm
When i travel on the train, especially going down to UOW, i tend to catch some zzz's and i fear one day i will miss my stop. So i was thinking if it were possible to make an alarm that will sound when you reach specific co ordinates. Say you set a destination, in my case nth wollongong train train using google maps, then you can set the alarm to sound when you enter some user defined radius around that location or when you cross as specific degree on the map. The only problem i fear with this is destroying the battery life, so i dunno how much battery the gps would use if its set to check your position every 5, 10 , 15 mins? i have attempted to make this app but have no idea about coding n stuff so if anyone would help i would gladly appreciate it.

The problem with this is that you actually can't let your iPhone screen go to sleep which might be a bit of problem. Once it goes to sleep there isn't really a way to wake it up as far as I understand. You might want to start off by playing with core location and generating a sound when it gets to a specific coordinate. Once you reach that milestone, you could investigate how to let the gps location update.
For your use though, if you know the scheduled arrival time, setting the alarm on your phone should do the trick

thanks mate, appreciate your input. as i think i said in my previous post im no developer and have no idea about code so this is a steep learning curve, but a good one, so it might take me a while to figure it out. I was unaware you could not sleep your app on the phone, this could be a bit of a dilemma, the other one i am facing is how to keep the alarm active if you decide to go to another app. however this is minor as its aim is for ppl who are asleep and thus can not use any other app (the ipod will play over the top). as for setting an scheduled alarm for the ETA, although i can roughly set it you never know with cityfail just how accurate there times are lol.

There is already an app which does exactly this, but you have to jailbreak your phone to use it. This then allows it to run in the background and send you an alert when you reach the reception of a given cell tower, wireless network or GPS location (unsure about GPS location...)
The only thing is, I can't remember the name of the app... I remember scrolling through Cydia a few weeks ago and reading the description thinking that it was a nifty idea but I never ended up grabbing it!

I have seen an app exactly like this on the app store, but I can't find it now. Either it's got a weird name (can't remember!) or it's been pulled; I was sure I saw it in the navigation section. It had a British Rail logo in its icon if that helps anyone looking for it.

did a very simple app that quickly tells u whats the actual sale price..
i know u can do it via a calculator..but then again...who has the time now..
so for example it says..
$44 take 30% off!
so my app takes those inputs and returns u the actual discount price...
so...useful for my wife and when we do quick shopping!

Yeah I've got that. It's called Insomnia. I haven't really found any good uses for it though...

News Now. It was accidentally released to the app store early as I wanted to add so many more features, so I will remove it in a couple of days.

It is already included. except that it is not working with the iPhone simulator... but on the iPhone you know how far you are from an house.... and how many houses are around you.

Looks good sync. Just a suggestion, for some of the table views that you have, you might want to pop back, rather than having the user go through the navigation bar at the top

I am ready to publish to app since the 20th august. I m just having trouble contacting someone at realestate.com.au just to make sure they won't stop me publishing it. Their support email and phone line is not helping. Anyone ?
