How do I access hidden videos on iPhone?

Without having to do a complete restore

I have (according to the iPhone summary on iTunes) 27 videos taking up 1.93GB of space on my iPhone. Which is what I'd expect as I've copied a number of vodcasts onto it over the last couple of months.

However, the iPhone only shows me the five latest vodcasts I've copied across. Everything else is "gone". If I try to re-copy a vodcast onto the iPhone, it won't, 'cos it's already there, apparently.

How do I get the iPhone to show these missing vodcasts? Quite a few of them I've deleted off my computer anyway and I'd rather not spring for the bandwidth to re-download them.

Any suggestions?

So are you seeing the same vodcasts in the podcast section as you're seeing in the Video section of your iPhone?

You SHOULD be able to transfer the hidden videos back to iTunes.. assumingly.. give that a try first.

Yep. In the video section I see the podcasts plus movies, tv shows and music clips. But just the podcasts that show up in the podcasts section.

I can't see the hidden videos on the iPhone. How do I transfer them back to iTunes?

Cheers.

Hm, I think there's a bug with the way itunes copies some files across, something I only discovered when I jailbroke my phone.

I was creating ringtones for my iphone in itunes. Now, for some reason because I had both an mp3 and m4r version of the file in my library, it was copying the mp3 version over, so i couldn't see it in the list of ringtones on the iphone, but it did show up as a track I could play in the ipod section. I couldn't get rid of it, and I couldn't get the m4r file to go across to be used as a ringtone.

When I jailbroke my phone, I went in via SSH and found the ringtones, only to discover that the mp3's had been copied over instead of the m4rs for the ones I was having problems with. I had to ensure I only had one version of the ringtones in itunes (the m4r version), only then was i able to copy the ringtones over and have them show up properly.

I wonder if your videos may suffer from some similar problem?

@mitty:

Your reply got me thinking. I have a feeling that the vodcasts I'd had on the iPhone previously may have been transferred via syncing. The ones I've recently transferred I did by just dragging them from the iTunes library. I wonder if the two methods kind of override each other in terms of recognising the files on the iPhone but not as far as overwriting or deleting the previous files.

I may have to delete all the video podcast files from my iPhone, sync nothing to it (which will hopefully delete all the previously synced videos) and then re-copy the videos back. I'd still like to know which video podcasts are still on my iPhone, though.
