Connecting an iPhone to a projector/tv

Does anyone know where video out cables are available for the iPhone?

I would like to use the iPhone on a projector or TV

Do you want to use the iPhone's menu, browsers, etc. on your TV, or just watch movies on it?
If you want to watch movies, just grab the Apple component/composite cables ($70 a pop!), but fi you want to give demos on the iPhone of the menus and apps, then you're outta luck, I don't know of anything outside Steve Job's office that does this.

As a follow on, I'd be interested to know if the iPhone can be used as a Keynote slide projector . . .

If you export your Keynote presentation as a QuickTime video, it can.

and what sort of cable do I need? Do I need an adapter that plugs into the adapter which converts USB to that blue plug that all projectors seem to use?

No, you'd need to use the Apple AV cable that decryption was referring to.

Apple Store (U.S.) - Apple Component AV Cable

what resolution would this cable output via component?

if the keynote presentation were saved as jpgs in a photo slideshow I wonder how they would look?

The slides are in [cant remember] x 576 resolution.

Can the iphone read PPT files? It would be crap if it could but not .KEY files.

Worth buying the cable?

there are apps in the App Store (i use Airsharing) that will display .key files, but I don't know whether they will play to a TV/projector via the AV out cables

Do you have to export it as a video? Can you not export it as photos and view that on the external video connection?

I was under the impression that you could - and that would also give you a nice slide effect

i have exported to iphoto before, and made a slideshow, that worked well

but now I have one presentation with a movie in the middle and i dont want the whole thing in a movie, plus there are a few builds and animations that would need to export properly.

a native .key presenter/reader would be best if it outputted to the cable
