I'd suggest doing a restore on it in DFU mode. With the phone off, press the home and power buttons at the same time for 10 seconds (make sure the phone is plugged in to USB prior to doing this). After ten seconds, let go of the power button but keep holding down the home button (don't take your finger off that at all) and wait another 10 seconds. iTunes should then pop up a message saying 'iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode'. You will then be able to restore it to factory and it will re-sync with the last backup you did (last sync) with iTunes.
Good luck
