Would my prepaid Optus SIM work in my Optus iPhone?

hello

I got my 16GB IPhone 3G 3 days ago on a $79+unlimited texting cap plan with Optus i also got the insurance and extended warranty and the ultimate browser pack which gives me an extra 1GB of data for $20 and that all comes up to $114 a month but could be double the first month, and would like know if its possible to use my prepaid optus sim card in the iphone instead of the post paid simcard and not get charged any extra fees and such and if its legal to do so? so that i can save up the money to terminate it early coz i want out, i dont want to stuff up my credit rating nor do i want to be in debt.

You still pay your $114/month or whatever it is, as outlined in your contract. And when you terminate the contract you pay whatever fees are involved for the handset, etc.

Don't know why you didn't just get a prepaid one.

Your prepaid sim will work, however you will be paying your $114 a month plus any prepaid credit you need/use...why not use the pack you have and just be a bit mindful of how you use the phone.

Also, nice reply Huy, heh
Edit: changed the post, the image said it all really.

I have a 16gig on a contract. What i did was get it on the lowest amount possible, $19 a month i think, and then insurance, extended warranty, as apple hasnt released one-will they ever?, and the phone repayment. All up it costs me $91.45 a month for 12 months.
Don't cancel. Try and see if you can go to the lowest plan and pop in your prepaid sim like me. As for extra internet credit, you dont need it unless you are using your iphone as a computer modem.

i have the Optus $79 a month cap plan which gives me $550 worth of call which are free-ish an it comes with the unlimited texting i also got one of the browser packs for the internet data stuff which costs $20 and i got the insurance an extended warranty which is $8 an $3.33 and that all adds up to $114 a month after the first month, what i mean is that im worried i might get a large bill unexpectedly (since theres no way to keep track of your usage between bills with the plans) that i wouldnt be able to pay and i want to know/see if i can use my existing prepaid simcard which is with optus in the iphone while i save up the $965 minimum to terminate the plan with the first month. coz if im able to do that i hopefully will only be paying the $114 a month as stated on the contract which i can easily pay off. i hope that made sense this time

ahhk yeah i chose the $79 a month because i text a hell of alot an i dont call people much so i had to take that one but now i realise i should have gone with the $59 a month even though i wouldnt have got the free unlimited texting.

well i dont have the money to buy a prepaid one right now so i foolishly went on a contract because i really really wanted one. it was either the iphone or a hiptop and i didnt really want one of those the buttons are too small the screens to small i would probley rip the screen off accidently

also i want to know if there was a cooling off period for the first 2 weeks or so where u can cancel it without havein to pay the early termination fees and like before the first bill arrives

I wouldn't worry about your data. I have 300Mb a month on Telstra and I'm lucky to use 40Mb of it. If I'm away for work I'll use maybe 150Mb+ in a month, but only if I'm pushing it, and I never bother holding back when I'm roaming around.

ohk yeh i was told that the iphone updates every 15 mins and that it uses a hell of a lot of data when you go online. is this true?
