iPhone Roaming

currently use 3 with Treo 750. where i live is hilly and whilst inside 3's 3G coverage map the signal is impossible unless I lock my treo on roaming.
Very soon changing to Virgin/optus with iPhone and wondering if iPhone can also be configured to stay on roaming if necessary ? TIA

If you are with Virgin/Optus you will be on their network and not 3Telstra. The coverage conditions will be different and you may be able to stay on 3G permanently. To clarify my answer though, you can still lock the iPhone to "Roaming" (aka 2G) by disabling the 3G option on the phone.

If your Treo is unlocked I'd recommend picking up a $10 prepaid sim and checking the coverage for yourself.
