Silicone iphone cases and the face proximity sensor issue

When on a call, my iPhone screen lights up when its near my face and goes dark when I pull it away from my face. The behaviour is the reverse of what it should be and makes it near impossible to access the phone controls (eg hang up or speaker phone), when on a call.

I found the cause of this issue was using my Tuffwrap (a silicon case, made for the 1st gen iPhone) with my iPhone 3G. Removing the Tuffwrap rectifies this problem and the screen lights up when I pull it away from my face, as it should.

I never had such issues using the Tuffwrap on my 1st gen IPhone. As the iPhone 3G has an extra face proximity sensor, the design of some 1st gen cases can interfere with how the sensor works, resulting in the issues mentioned above.

So in short, my question is, can anyone recommend a nice, coloured iPhone 3G silicon case which doesn't interfere with the fp sensor?!

Thanks

never had any issues with my InvisibleShield here.

A good case to try is the SwitchEasy Colours. You can find a review on iLounge.com

Yeah, the film covers seem to be OK. Its the thicker, rubber/silicone cases that cause the issues.

Will checkout the SwitchEasy cases ... cheers

I would assume any silicon cover that doesnt wrap far down the front of the face would do the trick.

Beware though - these sorts of ones do stretch. I had one for a while but had to get rid of it as it was too loose.

I bought one of these from Rushfaster. I love it, nice design, great quality and excellent value. And most importantly it has resolved the face proximity sensor issue I experienced with my previous case. Fantastic

Thanks for suggesting this product
