How to change iPhone 3G Optus Voicemail button number?r

Anyone figured out how to change the number that the Voicemail button calls on the iPhone 3G (on Optus in particular)?

I have tried: *5005*86*myvoicemailnumber# but it doesn't seem to have any effect

Thanks,
Tony

Why would you need to change it?

Hi dC,

Because the company I work for has its own voicemail system that I must use. We are not allowed to use the Optus voicemail.

So in my case "myvoicemailnumber" would be a number like 9555-5555. I normally call this number and then enter my extension number/PIN to retrieve my voicemail.

I understand that I can add this number as a contact and stick it in my Favourites tab but I would rather assign the Voicemail button to this function if possible.

Hope this clarifies my question.

Tony

Settings>Phone>OPTUS SERVICES> VOICE MAIL

Seems it is built into the Sim Card Call Optus.

By the looks of it, the iPhone's carrier bundle for optus overrides the voicemail setting you provide with that.

Have you jailbroken? if so send me a PM and I'll sort out a solution for you.

I haven't jailbroken my phone. I like to stay inside of Apple's "circle of trust".

I'll call Optus on Monday but I have a feeling that they won't be able/willing to do anything.

I'll try the Genius bar on the weekend and see if they have any idea.
