My iTunes Library has Album Artwork for everything I have and all works and looks fine, but when I Sync with my 1st Gen iPhone, there's a few missing covers for Albums.

So recheck iTunes and all ok, but again after another Sync they are still missing on the iPhone.

Has anyone seen this before or know of a solution or as to why most are there but some missing?

It's not a biggie I know and more for aesthetics but still curious as to why some work and some don't.

This happens to me occasionally, except when I go back into iTunes, I find that the album artwork has also disappeared from there as well. I have to then drag and drop the cover art from amazon into iTunes all over again. I have no idea why this happens.

This always shits me to no end.

If something is on my iPhone / Mac, it has to have cover art.

Try manually deleting the music out of your phone

Then redrag them back onto phone from the correct ones in your iTunes library.

Woo Woo fixed it, thank you guys. Actually checked something before reading the link from chrsha01, but that is a good link tho, have a read.

I found that whilst iTunes showed the album cover for all tracks on the album, the actual cover art work itself wasn't there on the get Info on all tracks. So if not all tracks have the same cover then it failed to display it on the iPhone. So once all tracks have the same art work, sync again, then all good...

I'm getting a similar issue on my 3G iphone running 2.1 I add artwork and it processes and the images are fine in itunes but on the phone there half blacked out or artwork is loaded against songs i did not add a particular graphic to.

To avoid any issues with the iTunes Album Cache I prefer to embed the artwork directly in the files themselves using this excellent applescript from Doug's site.

I manually manage all my ID tagging and Album art (which you can find via Discogs.com) with the free program MP3 IDX

It's not so well known that if you download album art from iTunes, it goes into your iTunes library folder but is not embedded in the files. So if you move those files, they'll lose the art. I scan all my own covers, so I usually only use the iTunes artwork as a temporary measure. If I need to keep the iTunes art, I right-click the artwork pane in the lower left and select Copy, then select all the tracks, right-click and select Clear Downloaded Artwork. Then right-click the artwork pane again and select Paste. This will embed the artwork.

When artwork goes wonky, it's a good idea to uncheck the option to display album art on the iPod in the iPod settings, then sync. This will strip out all the artwork. Then check the option again and do a new sync and iTunes will generate the iPod-optimised artwork again.

iTunes seems to no longer find any artwork when I use the 'get album artwork' function in itunes.

James the 2nd... I'm finding that exact issue as well... Shitting me to bits coz none of the above tips fix it...

Works fine for me although it doesn't like some older Aussie albums but 90% of the time it works fine.

Happens to me too on my touch, it seems random, in my case, i have to just copy the image for the album, and reput it in. It never disappears from itunes.
