After months of hesitation I've finally got around to adding some WEP security to our home WiFi network router. Now all I've got to solve is getting the iPhone back online, and the iPhone Instruction Manual doesn't help much.

To get each of the various wireless Macs here needed to be manually added after logging directly into the (NetGEAR) Router. Each of the "Machine Names", and their "Airport ID" (the ones with all the numbers and colons) need to be in the list. Do I need to add the iPhone to this list, and if so, where do I find the exact Machine Name (I've found the WiFi ID numbers in General/About/WiFi Address...)?

After that is done, I'm hoping the iPhone will accept my Password, which it currently isn't doing...

Settings > General > About > Wi-Fi Address
should look like 00:21:E9:##:##:##

You need to add iPhone to the Access List.

And I suggest WPA, WPA2.

Not WEP.

Got the correct number added to the router Access List ok, but using "iPhone" as the Device Name doesn't work. Using those settings in the router, when I enter my password key on the iPhone when requested, it isn't accepted...

Any suggestions for the correct Device Name, or where I should look for it?

Turn off MAC Filtering, it's useless anyway

Use a WPA key and you're fine - no Airport ID's needed.
