iPhone 3g in bits :(

My iPhone is now in bits thanks to an overzealous (jealous) colleague who decided to pull it apart (bastard).

I dont think anything major is damaged (only superficial stuff like the rear housing) - Optus wont assist (rightly) and I didnt take insurance.

Does anybody know of any companies who specialize in iphone repair? Because of my location, they would have to accept them via mail.

Is this a joke?

If not, then it is up to your ex-colleague to purchase you a new one outright. If not then see a lawyer.

First thing - I would be very upset at that "colleague", and make sure that he or she pays for any repairs that are required. In fact, I would be so upset, I would consider asking for the idiot to buy the iPhone off me for full price, so I can buy a replacement. Either way, any monetary loss should be claimed back from this "colleague".

There are a couple of threads discussing iPhone repairers already. I personally don't know of any - just upsets me to read your OP.

I wish it was - unfortunately not I get the impression the SIM card became dislodged from the tray somehow and he wanted to retrieve the card

Financial recompence is already on the cards - considering nothing appears to be seriously broken (and my technical ability precludes me from attempting to piece it back together) I want to see whether a rear housing change + an experienced hand can piece it back together

My god you sound unbelievably calm about this. I would be screaming blue murder if a colleague did this to my iPhone. Please tell me you didn't give this person permission to do this. I totally agree with Erwin & Leon. Get your colleague to fix it or buy it off you at full price so you can get another one.

I have never seen a SIM disappear inside the iPhone from the tray. And I've removed the tray many times on 1st gen and 3G iPhones. Always stayed in place. I guess it can happen if you're not pulling it out properly and gravity acts against you!

I dont trust this colleague to get it fixed properly (in fact he wanted to have a crack himself, which was a bit scary) - if I organise it, I at least have some control of what happens (ie not having it wrapped in sticky tape etc).

I like the idea of falcon punch though...

Seriously though - I'd like to get this fixed soon, any recommendations for repairers?

I would contact the Apple Store Sydney and ask them about repairing it. Get them to invoice your colleague for all charges incurred.
