Virgin Sim not working in my iPhone 3g Unlocked from Vodafone.

Hey all, got a slight issue.

I xfered my number and account to Virgin from Vodafone and got the new $99 topless plan. They told me to just stick the SIM in once my Vodafone one stopped working.

So about 5 hours later, sure enough, Voda sim died. So i stuck the Virgin one in - and all i got was "No Sim".

This iPhone was unlocked from vodafone a few weeks back, i have a prepaid 3 sim which works fine in it (can make calls, etc)

So i took the sim back to the virgin store, they couldnt figure it out so she gave me a replacement sim to see if that was the issue, nada, still No Sim - she tried her own virgin sim inside, and nothing.. so the iPhones not accepting virgin sims for some reason, yet it will take my 3 sim.

She rang up their iPhone HQ and was told to tell me to try restoring it, etc.

originally i got the carrier update on my iphone back in 2.0.1, but when i tried to update it, it just gave me an error, however the 3sim was working after it tried the update anyway so i didn't think much of it.

I have tried restoring with each sim separately each time to see if it'd help but nothing is working, i'm unsure what to do at this stage, and i doubt virgin would be either.

It won't read the new virgin sim at all (and it's working fine in my other phone..) so unsure whats up.

Anyone had this issue? Is it because it wouldn't download the carrier update back in 2.0.1? (it's 2.0.2 now..)

Thanks guys!

Odd

Got a friend with an unlocked iPhone you can test your Virgin sim in?

It isn't a network lock or your Three sim wouldn't work, I'd suggest seeing about a replacement phone

I have one yeah, but won't see her till tuesday.

How can it be the iPhone though? Everything else works fine. Also, if it matters, my itunes folder located in ~library/itunes

does NOT have the iTunes\iPhone Carrier Support folder - so i'm unsure if 3 is working because it wasnt a contracted network and my iphone didn't unlock properly? i need to try a telstra sim..

Sooo... my iPhone didn't unlock properly? Is there anyway to reinitiate the unlocking? Or get access to the optus files?

Apple has decided they'll send me a brand new pre-unlocked iPhone since they have no idea how this issue came about.

They required my credit card number, and have taken the cost of a 16gig from my account (765? i think it was.)

I have 10 days to return my old iPhone or else they'll keep the money. Once i do they refund the amount.

New iPhone will be express mailed already unlocked. (So 2-3 days from today )

Customer service was 100% the whole time.

Thumbs up to apple for the service
