Your SIM Sent a Text Message - Appears on iPhone After Inserting SIM
I get this message pop up every time I put my SIM into my iPhone:
Anyone know what it is and how to piss it off?

Its probably the SIM sending an SMS to Optus to say what kind of phone you're using, which would in turn initiate a network-sent Over-the-Air-Configuration message to configure things such as WAP and MMS. I'd probably ignore it

Ahh, so that's why if I press cancel, or accept, it doesn't seem to do anything?

How often do you remove your SIM, and why?, if I may ask. I have not needed remove mine since inserting it.

I often put my SIM into other phones for testing, or use other people's SIM in my iPhone. (i.e: when I unbrick other people's iPhones, I put my Optus SIM in to see if their phone works). Normal people don't need to take the SIM out.

Yep, I'd say its because the iPhone doesn't suport OTAC messages. Its pretty much a standard on Nokias/Sony Ericssons etc.

decryption,
I posted this in another thread, but for those who missed it:
It's a Sim back up feature (Optus only?).
You can turn it off, Settings/Phone/SIM Applications/

No problems.
EDIT: let's take it further:
Settings/Phone/SIM Applications/SIM Backup.
On this screen, you'll see 3 options, you want the last one "Deact AUTOBkUp"
For some reason, you may need to select it a few times, it doesn't always deactivate first go.

I was wondering what the Accept/Cancel messages were when I jailbroke my original iphone, back in those days the iPhone didn't tell you the whole "sent an sms" message and just gave you the black screen with Cancel/Accept
I thought it was some random bug caused by the hack :P

G'day,
I just changed to iPhone with an existing SIM and keep getting the same message. Tried using "Deact AutoBkUp" but still getting the message. What am I doing wrong??? Any help appreciated.
