iPhone sound issues

Anybody having sound issues with there ipod?

Sometimes the unlocking of the iphone and typing a text message doesnt "click". This appears to be random and its really starting to concern me.

You don't have your finger covering the speaker at the bottom? I think there's a sensor there that will make it quieter if anything is near it (ie don't have to make a full seal over the hole for it to be quiet).

Don't stress! I have the same problem. I did research into it and found a hell of alot of other people with the same bug.. Its a random problem.. Sometimes you dont hear the sms alert just the phone vibrate. Its only a software bug

since restoring from backup last night to fix my apps that stopped working my sounds have stopped working. No SMS tone unlock, key click, email sent or recurve notification. Nothing.

Ahh all fixed, the little switch on the side of the phone had been switched, the one that turns off the speaker. PHEW!! And refer to post about 17month old playing with iPhone... I reckon thats the culprit!

Its not that but that does really mute the sound

It seems to be fine now since the last patch was released

It is so easy to bump that switch on and off all day!

This happens to me quite a fair bit. Soft reset seems to do the job. Hopefully it gets fixed by the next update.

There is only one speaker.

The grille on other side of the iPod connector is the microphone.

Try covering them (one at a time) with a finger when the speaker is active (e.g. play a song).

Mine had been having problems... sound would work through the ipod, ringer etc but no keypad clicking or unlocking sounds. I even missed my alarm clock! Alarm was clearly shown to be ringing but no sound was made. I just did a backup on the computer and re-synced it and it was fine. I had installed some apps on the run that day and also added a lot of contacts... it seemed once it synced that to the imac it worked fine and has since!
