Iphone 3G reception

Hey Guys and Girls,

I'm connected with Optarse ... and seem to have constant issues with 3G signal.

If i turn off 3G (in setting menu) then i get good signal, but obviously at loss of the data rates.

Not a big issue, however when i put my Optarse sim into my Nokia n95 it has a shoit load more signal than the iphone does in the exact same area.

Starting to become annoying and was wondering if i have a dud or anyone else is experiencing the same ?? (read a few posts else where but not many responses).

Cheers
Ambo.

EDIT: Had to include the ladies in the intro

Non-3G has better coverage than 3G?

That's my experience, on Vodafone. Same as your Optus.

I get full bars on non-3G.

About 1-2 on 3G.

Pain in the rectum if you ask me ... should auto switch, and yes it does, but i always seem to get phone calls at this exact moment, and hence voicemail messages add up.

O well ... might be something i will have to live with

Hey all I recently joined this site and I asked the same question about reception on another mac forums site - I Was given this link from a guy who had done signal tests on both the 3G iPhone compared to his Nokia N95 - Thought you might want to read it

What I'd love to see is some MacTalker's do some meetups with iPhones on different networks and just wander around for a while comparing and publishing the reception levels (optional extra do speed tests.)

Who is up for it? I'm not yet iPhone enabled :-(

Hi guys, sorry to rain on this parade but there's a thread that's melting the Mactalk servers on this already...
