Question Synching iPhone on another Mac with same user account?

Is this possible? Just bought a MBA and will become my primary computer. Plan on migrating my user account from old MB to MBA. When I sync my iPhone to the new MBA using iTunes with my migrated playlists and the like, would it recognize my downloaded apps, system preferences and automactically sync like before? Of would it recognize it as a new iPhone and have go through the whole configuration and synching process all over again?

Does that make any sense?

You could probably use an existing iPhone 3G backup, to restore onto the 'new' iPhone 3G (which is the same iPhone, in reality).

Good question!

I think it should work because the machines would appear to be identical... if you migrate everything over. Only difference is the hardware you are using.

When I used the Migration Assistant from my MBP to my new iMac, everything was identical and it was totally seamless (ie the phone synced as normal when I plugged it in next).

Ok. Here's another to throw the spanner...if I copy my existing iTunes folder into Time Capsule or external HDD, then changed iTunes music location folder to that of the folder located on the external HDD - technically iTunes on the new MBA should bring up all the music files, playlists and such. This isn't technically "migrating" as no files would be migrated or reside on the MBA HDD physically.

Do you see a potential dilemma?
