I haven't been to RMIT with my iPhone yet - but the staff have told me it works. I'll be in the area soon, give it a shot - let you all know. Documentation and official support for it at RMIT is coming soon though.

I formatted my MacBook Pro recently and since I'm going back to Uni tomorrow, do you think that the Help Desk guys will be able to help me with the iPhone ?
It was very complicated to get the laptop connected, so I assume that the iPhone will be the same !!

Help Desk guys barely know how to use a Mac, let alone an iPhone.
If you're on campus Tuesday, I might be around and can give you a hand

If it uses Certificate auth, you can email the certs to your phone and install them, or you can set it all up using the iPhone Config utility for enterprise deployment.
If it's User/Pass auth you can just enter them on the phone itself
as long as the proxy is a HTTP proxy and not a SOCKS proxy you should be fine.

Oh well! How come they haven't updated the info, Universities are usually pretty good at this stuff.

Yeah, but with all the complication associated of going through different tabs in the System Preference, would the iPhone have the same complexity !

Shouldn't do
Does RMIT use certificates, or just User and password?
If it uses certs, you can just email them to the iphone, connect to the network and choose the WPA-Enterprise method that suits your situation - probably EAP-TLS

Have a sticky beak at this Apple Guide, it may help when you get the info from RMIT
