I have the exact same problem at La Trobe!

Did you manage to fix it?

I will try what the guy a few posts below you said and tell it to forget the settings (if I can figure out how to do that) and try again.

That will probably be on Tuesday or Wednesday, will post back results.

I don't want to keep harping on this, but I finally purchased an iPhone last night from Virgin.

Any word on this "step-by-step" manual for RMIT?

Thanks

Hi All

As advised in this post iPhone/iPod touch 2.0 FW in RMIT wifi network a setup guide for iPhones on the RMIT network will be available shortly.

Due to some flaky behavior from 10.5, there currently isn't a guide available. One is going through final approval at the moment which should be stable with the last lot of updates and hopefully will be available soon.

decryption, to address your comments directly, the IT Helpdesk staff are rather o fay with Macs so I don't know when you last had any involvement with them. As far as wireless setups go, you can get assistance at any of the RMIT libraries, and even make an appointment for an IT staff member to help you, or come round to our open access lab where the staff at the desk are absolute experts and will be able to get it all up and running.

Cheers

Matt

Hi All

The Computer Science "guide" leaves out a few steps and are not official RMIT instructions.

We have setup a downloadable profile which will configure your settings and the guide should be up quite soon.

Regards

Matt

Mine also works fine in RMIT's wifi network . The problem I found is email, youtube and other apps don't work however Safari, weather, stocks do, so ... no too bad sof far.

Any ideas how to get youtube to work? As far as I know youtube doesn't use rmit's proxy cos it uses a different protocol.

I can't seem to get the iPhone Web Config Utility to install/start on my Windows machine properly. Keeps saying that there is a service that needs to be installed and started before I can start the program [but doesn't tell me what service it is].. this is on a Windows Vista 32-bit machine.

If you contact the help desk they will have a guide on setting up your iPhone or iPod touch.

I have contacted helpdesk but they would not send me the guide and said that I have to just wait for it to be put up on the RMIT Wireless webpage.. so crap, probably won't be up until the end of semester and this is my last semester @ RMIT and would like to be able to use it before I graduate! Anyone, who's actually able to get their iPhone/iPod Touch on the RMIT wireless able to help me?
