Failed to find someone who could setup the iPhone for me.

decryption, do you know the steps of how to do it ?

A step-by-step tutorial would be useful since RMIT is not supporting the iPhone as of today

Thats a pity about RMIT.
I understand Monash Info Tech staff are putting together an official iPhone instructional page for their staff.
As well as supporting the soon-to-be-released Lotus iNotes for the iPhone.

La Trobe sounds like it has a similar network setup to RMIT.

802.1x and a proxy.

So if someone figures out how to do it at RMIT hopefully it will work at La Trobe too.

Setup instructions for Melb Uni's UniWireless can be found at FAQ : Information Services : The University of Melbourne. RMIT might be using a similar authentication process so the settings might be similar...

From what very little I know about RMIT wireless (From helping friends) I don't think you'll get the iPhone on their network.

Yes it is 802.1x, but it isn't standard encryption methods.
There is some third party crap you have to chuck on (or I did for a Vista based computer) in order to get it to authenticate properly.

Oh and don't hold me to that, like I said.. Limited experience to say the least

Melbourne Uni (Uni wireless) is pretty painless. Just try to connecting a zone, enter user name and password and set your proxy to autoconfig to http://www.unimelb.edu.au/cgi-bin/proxy.pac

I think that the proxy is still crap in that it asks for user name and password quite alot, which defeats Uniwireless as the brand new deployed project that it is. But then again, thats Melbourne Uni

On a Mac you don't need any 3rd party stuff - it's just Windows that needs it.

They are working on the documentation and testing right now. It does work and you will be able to connect your iPhone/ iPod Touch to RMIT Wireless.

Ha! You obviously haven't met RMIT's incompetent administration system.

A step-by-step for this would be great for someone who has the skills!

I don't go to RMIT, but have an 802.1x Certificate based auth network at home - I had the Deployment tools and guide as soon as they were available :P

iPhone on RMIT wireless

I know for a fact that there is someone at RMIT working on this atm. I also know that it works, because i have mine working with the RMIT-WPA network right now. Be patient, i don't think you'll have to wait long.

PM me if you really can't wait
