Before i call Apple Tech Support, I figured I'd try the collective MacTalk brain ...

16Gb iPhone; out-of-the-box from Telstra (no firmware update). No SIM in the unit; connected to the net through WiFi.

Issue #1: VPN login

I've set up a VPN connection to my work VPN - vpn.domain.com.au - entered my username and password, saved the settings. When I try to connect, it prompts for my username and password again; I enter them, it connects.

Any idea why it can't seem to save the u/p details?

Issue #2: Exchange

It doesn't seem to matter what settings I try, I simply cannot get the iPhone to connect to the work Exchange server. As best I can tell, I'm using the same settings that work (sometimes) on my Windows Mobile-based Dopod 838Pro; no joy.

I suspect it's the Server Name field that's causing problems; I've tried domain.com.au, I've tried https://servername/exchange/ (it works fine for Entourage), I've tried servername\exchange and servername on its own. I've tried changing my username from domain\username (as it prompts) to servername\username, but without success.

I'm connected to the VPN via WiFi when I try each of these settings ... the only other thing I can think of is that it's failing to resolve the server name because the iPhone's DNS settings are right, but I have no idea how to fix that.
