Cool THIS post will help many optus customers if ANSWERED

Hey everyone
im an Optus customer on a (24 month) 3G 49$ cap plan currently on the Sony Erricson w910i

does anyone know if i could walk into optus give them the 24 monthly required payments for an 8 gig iphone straight up and they would giv me one?
because im already on the plan and if i happen to want an 8 gig which is 7$/month on the 49$cap 24Months i should be able to give them 7x24=168$ in exchange for the iphone?

cheers..

No... if you want to pay for a phone up front, buy a pre-paid one. You can't just pay the phone component without paying for the rest of the contract.

And seriously dude, rename the thread... the current one is completely unhelpful to everyone, including you.

From speaking to the Optus business accounts person today, he was saying that they can get override codes to move you onto the iPhone plans without penalty if you're 21 months or more into your contract. Else, the only way for you to get the iPhone is to get the prepaid pack, or pay the early termination for your existing contract and resign one. Hope that answers your question. If you're still hoping for something rather than asking here on the forums, go speak to someone at Optus during weekdays. They'll probably tell you the same thing.
