Unhappy Regressing from 1.1.4 back to 1.1.1

Hi,
I've had my iphone since Oct 07 with 1.1.1 loaded operating on Vodafone. Everything has worked perfectly on it, YouTube (the phone 'thought' it was connecting to edge) GPRS emails and Safari. I use iFuntastic so I could customise and reposition my logos, I'd installed the SMS apps so I could send emails to multiple recipients, also with 'Locate Me' I could get my approx position on Maps. All was fine until I found out about ZiPhone and thought that this would be a way for a non-techo like me to upgrade to 1.1.4 and jailbreak and unlock myself. Well ZiPhone worked perfectly but now the phone is too clever to be fooled into thinking it's on edge. YT won't work GPRS emails don't connect nor does Safari, it keeps saying that I need edge for everything. When I'm connected by WiFi my connection keeps dropping out and reverting to GPRS, it's soooo frustrating!!! I've checked so many threads and newsgroups and followed all instructions carefully but nothing seems to work. So I used iTunes to reset the thing to factory settings, thinking "Yep, 1.1.1 was factory, so I'll be right". Bit no, after resetting I've still got 1.1.4. Grrrrr. How do I go back to 1.1.1??? Help, please.

Use the YouTube activator.

Set up your GPRS/EDGE.

You can only go back to 1.1.1 if you have downloaded the firmware and you force iTunes to select it. I think it is using the alt-opt key and clicking restore (to select firmware file).

Good luck.

I guess you could always force the iPhone into recovery mode and then try restoring to 1.1.1 from there, assuming the iPhone has basically the same functionality as the iPod Touch.

Yup, absolutely correct on both counts. Should've included those steps in MY post... but it's all about the team effort, right?

I'd stick with 1.1.4... just try it again. Those issues don't sound right.

Rather than go back try another program like iLibery to jailbreak you rphone and see how that goes. Im on the vodafone sim card as well and haven't had those kinds of issues.
