Car speakers & keyboard q's
G'day,

Can't believe I'm posting here... but anyway

Spoke to my brother yesterday, following up an email he sent me "from my iPhone". He was saying he likes it - has thrown his iPod, Nokia and Palm P away - but has 2 issues...

1) In his car, it will play through the speakers (wirelessly) when it's a phone call, but not to play music...

&

2) He'd expected to be able to use a wireless keyboard with it, but hasn't had any luck...

I'm sure there's more details required, but based on the above - any answers I can forward on to him?

As soon as I saw his email, I wrote back - "Didn't want to wait til... June?" He said it's ok - he can just hand it down to one of his subordinates when the 3G iPhone arrives... benefits of being the boss. Bastard!

ok.
2) wont happen because the 'wireless keyboard' is almost definitely bluetooth......
not gonna happen, apple havent activated the software for that yet.

back to 1)
same thing. bluetooth. A2DP is the protocol that allows stereo streaming of music.

that one will not happen for a while i dont think.... unless its exclusively with an apple item. who knows...

basically, dont try anything with bluetooth, it wont work. unless its phones calls and a headset. thats it.

So... (and I really don't know much iPhone tech yet) the hardware is there, but Apple haven't allowed its use beyond the boring stuff?

pretty much.... yep.
and due to its 'media' nature.... i dont think the streaming music will be a high priority on apples list.

the other one, the 'serial' profile for bluetooth (which allows exchange of raw data) ... well... i have no idea... thats up to apple
