Question Life after iLiberty +1.5?

I am planning on getting the iPhone and want to unlock it using iLiberty + 1.5. I've read the notes from the site and it seems pretty straight forward.

Question to all those who've used this - what happens after you're unlocked it? How do you go about adding 3rd party programs and customising the theme? I understand you will require Summerboard etc. I've read that there is this "payload" you can write and that allows you to upload any program you want to your iPhone using iLiberty. Is there anything that won't require me to write codes? I am completely overwhelm with codes!

Cheers.

Why Liberty?

Depends on what you want to use the iPhone for/as. If you just want to jailbreak/unlock it and install 3rd party apps (using Installer), have a look at ZiPhone, ZiPhone's Blog

Running that will let you do all you need (in about 5 mins). Unless you specifically want to upload stuff to the iPhone that isnt available through Installer. If that is the case, then maybe telling us what and why, you will get the specific help.

Avoid ZiPhone!

I used iPhone Pwnage 1.0 and it puts on installer as part of the unlocking process. I then used installer to install the AUS localisations, as well as BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH. Version 1.1 is out now which lets you make custom logos as well as allowing you to custom make firmware that contains packages within installer so everytime you restore your iPhone, you can have it just the way you like it.

I haven't used iLiberty+ 1.51, so can't comment on installing applications.

I used iLiberty on my iPhone recently

It installs Installer on the phone which you can use to install all the normal apps like summerboard ect.

I wouldn't worry about payloads unless you know what you are doing - you can do all the same stuff slower with Cyberduck and Installer after iLiberty has done its thing

Once again

As mentioned to you in another thread, PLEASE DO NOT USE Ziphone. Now the reasons ;-

It locks your iphone to version 3.9 Permanently ( No way to change it ) AND it gives ALL iphones the same internet address.

Please read the other iphone threads before giving well intentioned but incorrect advice

That's why I've done my research and read the differences between all these unlocking programs before actually embarking on doing so....and from my understanding and knowledge (without experience), iLiberty +1.5 is the best currently. All you need is a fresh 1.1.4 iPhone and there you go.

I'm glad that the Installer can allow you install the 3rd party programs....still have to read into how to do so. I just hate messing with codes...

ZiPhone only changes your bootloader if you tell it to, and it only changes your IMEI if you tell it to. You just have to be sensible and not do that.

I have been using ziphone to jailbreak/activate/unlock for yonks and have not got any issues with it at all. I tried iLiberty last time and it was fine too.

My understand of ZiPhone is that irrespective of what you do, it downloads your iPhones baseband to 3.9. This is fine if you already have a 3.9 phone, but not if you have a 4.6.

Just iLiberyed my iphone. It's working (ie it boots up) but when I go to make a call it dies, and it will not download stuff from the installer....

Obviously I've tried a re-boot, have tried a different SIM card, and am madly reading through all the posts I can find....

Hmmmm

Any tips?

Try pwnage. I haven't had any troubles yet. Which network are you on?

I used Liberty +, and it works with no problems. I've also downloaded a few things off installer.

I highly recommend it. It's practically just a better Ziphone, it's that easy to use

I used this guide
iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock Your iPhone With PwnageTool (Mac)

You need to download the 1.1.4 firmware
You need to download the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloaders.
There are links in the guide

I pwned my fresh out of the box iPhone so I guess you could just use iTunes to restore your iPhone to a virgin 1.1.4 again.

Only thing to remember is before you restore your iPhone with the custom firmware it needs to be in recovery mode, which the guide fails to mention.

Good luck.

Did you have to do anything in the way of setting the iPhone up?

I am sure this is something simple...
