My Iphone has no signal / poor plz help
Hey guys,
I'm new here and I really need some help.
I have an Iphone that I bought online from a guy that previously tried to hack it. When I received it it was V 1.1.1 locked and unregistered. I jailbroke it and unlocked it using i.unlock.no's method. The guy previous to me and myself has only ever received poor and no signal. I Have tried vodafone, telstra and optus so its deffinetly not the carrier. I have tapped the back of the simcard to give it a more 'plush' sitting. I have tried using Ulctl to fix the comcenter. I have restored it to factory setting then upgraded it to 1.1.4 and unlocked and jailbroke. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING and still i get no signal. I have reset all the settings etc.
my current status: is 1.1.4 unlocked jailbroken and no service.
can someone help?
p.s I also have a problem with ibrickr when i was 1.1.1 it never allowed me to do anything with the apps.
thanks

Do you have another non-iPhone to test the signal strength with? Try that.

A long shot, but assuming the guy you got it fromm upgraded to 1.1.1 it might be worth sending it back to 1.0.2 then reupgrading to 1.1.1. I had a really bad no signal problem when I upgraded to 1.0.2 => 1.1.2 but after downgrading to 1.0.2 then only going as far as 1.1.1 I saved myself from insanity :-) seriously contemplated throwing int he towel and buying a new one, luckily I did the downgrade first.

I would do a restore in Itunes to 1.1.4 then Ziphone to do everything takes 5 min and the restore should fix any problems and take it back to factory settings. Links on the forum as well as baby steps to follow if needed

The other mobiles you mention are both 3G - it's possible you have good 3G reception but bad 2G reception. Seems unlikely 3km from the city but worth checking out.

thanks guys for your responses but still none the better. I have used a 2G telstra sim, a 2G vodafone sim and a 3G optus sim. I work in a phone shop and i assure you all my phones only run on 2G, I have excellent 2G coverage. Its currently been restored to 1.1.4 through Itunes and i have used Ziphone to unlock activate and jailbreak but im still stuffed. as for the 1.02 to 1.1.1, I think it came out of factory as a 1.1.1 its Imei isnt one of the older ones.
thanks for your input guys keep it coming, im going insane with no iphone waste of money.
ps i took it to a repair shop and they're idiots gonna charge me $50 to restore the software which i can do. and then even then they said they cant repair it and laughed at me:S

My bet is that it is an internal antenna problem.
A hardware fault.. So that will need to be checked out either
(a) by Apple in the US
(b) by someone over here who knows enough about electronics in particular iPhone, I heard a rumour about a member here that has performed some iPhone repairs successfully. Boxhog? Anyone else confirm this?

Instead of starting a new thread, I though I would tack onto this one.
My 1st gen iPhone has stopped getting signal.
When I turn it on, there is no signal, and the carrier(Telstra) logo does not appear and then after a few seconds its says no signal. It was working but not it is not. I tried a restore and then quickpwn but this has not worked.
Coul dit be hardware, and if so anyone know who can fix it?

You might as well try this
Scared to upgrade your 1st-Gen iPhone to v2.1? MacTalk can do it for you!
