Can't play video in portrait mode on iPhone
I just received my iPhone yesterday. Yay! I jailbreaked and unlocked using ziphone and that all went fine. So I was playing around with the new features and loaded some video onto the iPhone which I had previously encoded through Handbreak for my iPod.
What I noticed was that all the videos were playing in landscape mode. Even when I turned iPhone into portrait mode. The video wouldn't rotate. I thought maybe that the accelerometer was playing up but it is fine in safari. Turning and rotating.
So my question is. Is it possible to view videos in portrait mode on the iPhone? Do I have to tick a little flag when I encode the video to get it to allow this? Or a setting on the iPhone to allow this? I seem to recall a promotional video where they were playing Pirates of the Carribean on iPhone and then would tilt screen to make it widescreen and then back again.
Landscape mode looks great but sometimes when watching standard TV show 4:3 aspect ratio portait mode makes more sense. Also there is a disconnect when the iPod controls work only in portait orientation while video is displayed in landscape.
