iphone cannot make or recieve calls please contact apple ...

I've a search but don't seem to be to find what I'm looking for. All of a sudden this morning my iphone stopped being able to make or receive calls. I haven't updated it. I purchased through ebay a month or so back unlocked and is still on 1.1.3

the message which appears is
Repair Needed. iphone cannot make or receive calls, please contact apple.com/support.

I've tried another sim card and it doesn't work. Bluethooth is now "unavailable" and when I try to enter Wifi, the touch screen doesn't recognise my touch!

have I "bricked it" somehow?

I saw that message when I was doing the hardware unlock many years ago. I was able to get the iPhone to work again but I have no idea how.

cheers, that looks the easiest solution as I don't have much on there to lose. One question though, looking at the jailbreak site, it mentions something about iphone version 3.9 BL. How do I tell whihc mine is?

Use this guide found in the help guide in the forum Upgrade to 1.1.4 through iTunes - BabySteps Guide
Most problems I can see are from not restoring in I tune. No need to touch base band
