An Unlocked iPhone..... what to expect

Ok so my iPhone is unlocked. 1.1.3
if i am correct.

What should I and others new to the iphone expect?

*will my SIM card contacts be available to my iphone or do i have to get my contacts from my mac address book?
* will caller ID, call waiting, message bank, SMS etc work as they did in my usual GSM phone prior to using the iPhone?
* what applications that come on the iphone can i use?
*what additional applications are must haves & where do we get them from?

google is good but many come here for help.

Thanks

- SIM card contacts won't transfer across - add em all to your address bookand then it will sync fine (plus its a backup incase you lose your phone or change SIM cards)

- Caller ID, call waiting, SMSs etc. all work just fine.

- You can use all the apps that came with it fine

- Addition apps are installed on the iPhone itself using "Installer.app" - the only must haves for me are the Australian localisation packages, which makes numbers appear in AU formats.

Enjoy the iPhone!

I stopped storing contacts on my SIM years ago, found it too limiting. I find syncing with address book much better, as it allows multiple numbers, addresses and even buddy icons to sync.

I had to use the guide available on this forum to get caller id etc to work fine. All these features work fine, i'm on Optus.

All the apps work great. Even the locate me function of Google Maps works great, if you have an active data connection.

For extra apps, i've installed a Terminal, OpenSSH server and client (but i really don't see myself doing any serious work from the phone) and iAno which is really, really neat.
