1.1.3 upgrade gone wrong - no idea how to proceed

Hi guys,

I was trying to do the 1.1.3 soft jailbreak/upgrade > baseband upgrade > anySIM unlock and something went wrong along the way and I got a "connect to iTunes" screen. I then downgraded to 1.1.2, and then down to 1.1.1.

At the moment I have 1.1.1 firmware on my iPhone and I'm up to step 4.14 on this guide - but the phone never reboots and will not activate. I'm at the "Activate iPhone" screen with wi-fi connected and access to the settings menu, but I am not activated or jailbroken. Field test menu shows the baseband version as 4.02.13_G.

Where to from here?

when you click the URL then install appsnapp, does it come up with a question mark? or return to the activation screen?

if it goes to the activation screen, wait a minute and it should reboot itself - if not - power off the phone and try again.

It returns to the activation screen and then does nothing - except it goes to sleep after a couple of minutes. I've verified repeatedly that auto-lock is set to Never and I've restarted the phone a couple of times.

edit: Okay, I got appsnapp to work. I ran oktoprep, but the problem now is that I had to restore to 1.1.2 - not update. This wiped out the changes that oktoprep made, so now the 1.1.2 jailbreak doesn't work. Suggestions?

edit2: Trying to use anySIM to unlock 1.1.1, and even that's not working - it gives a message saying "anySIM cannot unlock this phone". WTF???

I'd suggest do a restore to 1.1.1 then virginize your baseband. Do a IPSF unlock then you won't have to worry with AnySIM anymore.

Does it have the "slide for emergency" thing in all different languages? Then it is 1.1.2.

If not, try opening the latest beta of independence and waiting a sec, if it does nothing after 20 seconds, try unplugging and re plugging, it should kick it out of recovery

yeah sorry I went to bed,

Restoring to 1.1.2 removes the prep tool and thus it can't be jailbroken.
When I did this upgrade, it went into recovery mode after jailbreaking 1.1.2 - connecting the phone to independence for a minute resolved this for me.

I did eventually fix it - I did a restore to 1.1.1, jailbreak, update to 1.1.2, jailbreak and unlock, soft update to 1.1.3 and that's where it stays for now.

Thanks for the help guys
