Q. If I don't update my hacked iphone firmware can I still go on updating itunes?

Q. Can I update my itunes software on my Macbook Pro and just leave my hacked iphone (running on Optus) alone (not running any firmware updates) and not make myself a brick?

Thank you, first time poster.

You will be presented with a pop up box when you plug your iPhone in, asking if you want to Download and install 1.1.3, Just download or (I think) Cancel.

Hit cancel and it works fine, I've not bothered downloading the update and won't do it until it's jail broken.

I am still using 1.1.1 and Itunes 7.6 with no problem. That is not say that you should automatically update to future versions of itunes. It pays to research online first, here and on other forums to ascertain that there are no issues with new versions of itunes and firmware.

Atm iNdependence doesn't work with iTunes 7.6, so if you liked using that I'd advise not to upgrade iTunes just yet.

I did and now it's a pain trying to restore the phone smoothly.
