Dropped my iphone - screen not functioning

Well here is what happened:
I was sitting in our recliner chair when I decided to lay down completely. Just when the chair was in horizontal position my Iphone slipped out of my pocket and bounced of the floor(wooden one). Checked the phone for any scratches or dents but found nothing. Half an hour later I was going to send a text when I found out the thing was not responding to the touch screen(AAAHH). Both the home and power button work fine but I cannot slide the phone to come of the screen saver or to power off. Tried to do a software restore in Itunes but no working touch screen.

The ebay seller does not want to help.

The thing left to do is contacting apple with an email explaining everything and hope for some service I guess.

any other ideas??

Rest of the story is on my blog.

Rik

voitech basically charges $500 for a screen replacement. The screen is only owrth like $170 and they charge $300 + $200 for labour.

That is not far off what I paid for the phone.

Ordered some tools and will open the phone myself and maybe replace the screen or a connector.

Couldn't you buy a screen for $170 and get a techie to install the screen?

Yeah you've got nothing to loose. Give it a crack I say. It can't be that hard to replace a screen, that's if you can source one...
